Hi Sher - Glad you liked the map. As I've commented in my previous reply to Minnie, I just wished I'd discovered how to create it back in late October when I started blogging about the trip.

And Št’astný nový rok to you! By the way, it isn't the correct letters that you need but the correct diacritics. But as I've commented elsewhere, a lot of web browsers can't cope with many of the diacritics needed in Czech so I often have to leave them out otherwise you get unwanted question marks appearing in the middle of words!

If you have read Karen's comment on my post entitled 'Snowy Prague', you will see that she too thinks that Phillip & I look very much alike. My thanks for visiting the blog & leaving your comment. It is always nice to know that people have visited!

Hi Karen,

To answer your question - as long as you took reasonable precautions, I would say it would be perfectly safe for a woman alone to make this journey. By reasonable precautions I mean, following the usual sensible advice for all travellers such as taking good care of your wallet, cards and passport. Not wandering into any obviously seedy areas of big cities such as Izmir and Istanbul, especially after dark. And in Turkey, outside of the coastal resorts and the other places popular with tourists such as Ephesus, Pamukkale and Cappadocia, dressing fairly conservatively.

Hi Vance - Št’astný nový rok!

Glad you like the map and I hope you enjoy your virtual journey through reading the various posts. I'd be interested to here of the other places you've previously visited besides Ephesus.

Hi Ricky,

The map is great to get the picture of which way you traveled at one glance.

Now I can go back and retrace your trip by going to your posts. Perhaps I can even decide where to go first by looking at your map finding a place of interest and then trying to find a post where you describe it.

I've already gone to Ephesus with you before the map was up. It'll be fun to revisit some other places I've been to before and many other places to which I haven't been and which I can now visit only virtually through your posts.

Happy New Year.

Vance

Hi Minnie!

Glad you liked the map. I wished I'd worked out how to do it back in late October. Still, better late than never! I hope you really enjoy your armchair travels and get a chance to visit some of these places in person in the not too distant future.

New Year greetings already warmly reciprocated - but the map is a great idea: thank you, Ricky! It really does demonstrate the extent of that epic journey. I shall enjoy picking up and following your accounts. I'm fascinated by Central/Eastern Europe and Turkey, and am delighted to have an opportunity to do some armchair travelling.
